Colleagues from across the BBP collaborate at Falls Prevention Event

It was great to see so many colleagues from across the Hounslow Borough Based Partnership (BBP), and community stakeholders coming together on Monday 15 January at Hounslow House to help make ‘falls everyone’s business and everyone’s concern’.

The event highlighted to attendees how Hounslow has one of the highest falls incidences of all London Boroughs and that  incidences are also higher than the national data.

More than 40 attendees participated in the event, which aimed to:

  • Create awareness of the falls and bone health service and deliver wider service promotion.
  • Map services and enhance existing partner relationships to align roles and improve communication and collaboration.
  • Identify the potential barriers to self and practitioner referral to the programme and create solutions.
  • Agree a pro-active plan to identify those at risk of falling and reduce the risk of subsequent falls.

By bringing BBP colleagues and stakeholders together, discussions could potentially identify better ways to integrate services and offers to help prevent future falls amongst Hounslow residents.

The day was a great success, and a new Falls Forum will be launching shortly for all colleagues who wish to continue developing the falls prevention programme in Hounslow. Upcoming forum dates will be published soon. Also, during the day, stakeholders helped to identify support services, community activities, referral pathways, and potential new ways of working.

The Falls Prevention Service is a BBP Accelerator Project, however to help improve further outcomes  for residents, an enhanced whole system and community coordinated approach is needed to address increasing falls incidences.
