26 June 2025, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
NWL are holding two separate half-day online training sessions titled “An Introduction to Co-Production,” on either the 19th or the 26th of June (10am to 1pm with regular breaks throughout).
Each session is independent of the other and intended for frontline staff from the third sector, NHS, Local Authority, and other partner organisations. Priority goes to those in Hillingdon and Hounslow working with childhood asthma; pregnant women and people; and refugees and asylum seekers, but is open to others.
The aim is to provide a learning experience focused on enhancing service delivery by fostering partnerships with the communities served, providing you with an introduction to the skills needed to co-produce with service users.
Why Co-Production Matters
- Enhance Service Delivery: Co-production has the potential to significantly reform service delivery methods. By engaging staff and community members as equitable partners, it eliminates the traditional “us versus them” mindset and fosters innovative solutions. Rather than providing services for individuals, we collaborate with them, thereby making services more responsive and efficient.
- Share Power with Communities: At its heart, co-production means sharing power and decision-making with the community. Frontline professionals and local residents work side by side - planning, designing, and delivering support together - so that everyone’s voice is valued and services truly meet local needs. This approach empowers those with lived experience to shape the services they use, fostering trust and mutual respect.
- Build on Community Strengths: Co-production embraces an asset-based approach, recognising that every person and community has valuable skills, knowledge, and strengths to contribute. By pooling these assets with professional expertise, we co-create services that are richer, more sustainable, and better tailored to people’s lives. In short, we focus on what’s strong, not just what’s wrong - building on community resources to achieve better outcomes for all.
These sessions will explore co-production principles and examples, from power dynamics to community assets. You'll reflect on your practice, join discussions, and find practical ways to apply co-production daily. Together, we'll learn how sharing power can lead to new ideas, better services, and equitable work.
Whether you're with a charity, community or health and care organisation, these sessions will help you promote co-production. Staff interested should sign up to support more inclusive, community-driven services. Let's collaborate, learn, and transform our work – together! Numbers are limited so hurry up and sign up.

Improving planned care and reducing NHS waiting times
The NHS is working to improve planned care, which includes non-emergency hospital appointments and planned surgeries. The aim is to ensure patients receive specialist care within 18 weeks of referral while making the process fairer and more efficient.
To achieve this, we need to understand the changing needs of local people, rising demand for services, and how to address differences in waiting times and experiences across different communities.
Residents and healthcare professionals have already suggested ways to improve waiting times and care, including:
- allowing GPs to get quicker advice from specialists to avoid unnecessary hospital appointments
- providing patients with regular updates on their place in the waiting list
- giving patients more choice in selecting appointment times
- offering better support to help people stay well while waiting for treatment
- using technology to improve efficiency and free up time for specialists
We want to hear your experiences and ideas on how these changes could work in practice.
Planned care survey
NWL is also gathering feedback through its planned care survey. Responses will help shape how we improve planned care and reduce waiting times in North West London.
Please take a few minutes to share your views:

Improve your confidence in having healthy lifestyle & behaviour change conversations with others with the MoreLife CPD accredited Training session
About this event
- Online event lasts 2 hours
At MoreLife we understand that behavior change, although beneficial in preventing disease can be very challenging & during these uncertain times maintaining a healthy lifestyle has not been possible for all.
MECC will provide you with the skills, confidence and tools to have a positive and effective conversation about health and behaviour change; particularly around weight management, stopping smoking and increasing physical activity. Having even a brief chat with someone about what is happening in their life can be all it takes to make a positive impact to their health and wellbeing. That’s where the MECC training will help you.
What is MECC?
MECC is an approach to behaviour change. It utilises the millions of day-to-day interactions organisations and individuals have with other people to support them in making positive changes to their physical and mental wellbeing. This model is relevant for everyone who comes into contact with people and has an opportunity to encourage positive behaviour change. However, we know that telling people what to do is not the most effective way to help them change. Making Every Contact Count is about altering how we interact with people through having Healthy Conversations and learning how to spot opportunities to talk to people about their wellbeing.
Our CPD accredited Training course is 2 hours long delivered by an engaging practitioner covering;
1. What is MECC & How is it relevant to you and your job role?
2. Identify opportunities to start a healthy conversation around health & wellbeing.
3. Understand your own barriers and enable you to feel more confident in having a healthy lifestyle conversation.
4. Identify the key healthy conversation skills to support someone
To make sure you get the most from your training with us we would like to ask a few simple questions to help us tailor our approach to best suit your needs so participants will be contacted by email with a Pre Course Questionnaire to complete prior to training. All relevant course materials & key information will be sent to participants once training completed, along with the Course Feedback and Evaluation form which will need to be completed before the course completion certificate will be released.

The prevalence of smoking in Hounslow is 13.6%; in the more deprived areas, this rises to 18.9%. We would like your input to help us develop a three-year plan for tackling tobacco use and its inequalities in Hounslow.
The workshop will feature:
- A keynote talk by Mira Osinibi, Paediatric Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialist.
- A summary of the latest smoking data in Hounslow.
- Workshops to identify priorities and model support for smokers across the system in Hounslow.
When: 2-5pm, 14 January 2025.
Where: Room 6.10 Hounslow House, 7 Bath Road, Hounslow, TW3 3EB.
