Online Introduction to the Mental Health Act - Training Session

This online training session provides an overview of the Mental Health Act 1983, as amended in 2007.  

Key legal framework governing the assessment, and the rights of individuals with mental health conditions in England and Wales. It also outlines the core principles of the Act, the roles of professionals involved and the safeguards in place to protect individual rights.

This training is designed to raise awareness about mental health and the Mental Health Act (MHA). 

It will help staff feel more confident when interacting with residents who may be experiencing mental health difficulties, ensuring responses are sensitive, professional, and legally informed.

 By the end of this training, staff will be able to:

 •            Recognise signs that a resident may be experiencing mental health challenges.

 •            Communicate effectively and compassionately with residents in distress.

 •            Understand the basic principles of the Mental Health Act.

 •            Identify the boundaries of their role and when to seek support or escalate.
