New Healthier Home Project: funded by the NHS for residents and colleagues

The Healthier Home Project is an NHS-funded pilot initiative focused on reducing the health inequalities linked to damp and mould in the Private Rented Sector.

Damp and mould are significant and persistent issues across London, with clear links to respiratory health, child wellbeing, school attendance, and overall family stability. Their commissioned discovery report highlighted that many residents living in the Private Rented Sector often feel unsure of where to turn, with no clear route to support or reliable advice.

The team keen to connect with wider community-facing partners—such as schools, children’s services, youth organisations and family support teams—to explore how they can work together to ensure that residents experiencing these issues are signposted to reliable information and support. The Healthier Homes website provides:

  • Advice on damp and mould prevention
  • Carbon monoxide safety guidance
  • Energy advice
  • A growing directory of local voluntary organisations*
  • Letter templates residents can use to report and escalate housing issues
