The Government has published a new Neighbourhood Health Framework, setting out a clear national direction for how health and care services will be delivered in the future.
The framework reinforces a shift toward integrated, neighbourhood-based care, with services working more closely together around people with complex needs. It highlights the importance of local multidisciplinary teams, stronger partnerships between the NHS, local authorities and the voluntary sector, and a greater focus on prevention and proactive care.
At its core, the policy aims to ensure care is provided as locally as possible, at home or within neighbourhood settings, with hospital care used only when necessary. This approach aims to improve outcomes, reduce pressure on acute services, and support people to live well for longer in their communities.
