Health in the Park brings hundreds together for a community day of wellbeing

Hounslow’s third Health in the Park celebration, held on Saturday, 13 September at Isleworth Leisure Centre and Library, has been hailed a huge success. Despite the rainy forecast and the event having to move inside, it still drew hundreds of residents, who engaged with more than 30 health and community stallholders and enjoyed a wide variety of free classes and activities.

Families also enjoyed activities for children, and many took the opportunity to join in health quizzes, wellbeing challenges, and the popular Health in the Park bingo prize draw.

Importantly, residents were able to access a range of free health checks on the day, helping to increase awareness of prevention, self-care, and support available locally.

Stallholders praised the opportunity to connect with so many residents in one place, and residents have noted how much they valued being introduced to new services, groups, and health opportunities across Hounslow.

“We were delighted to attend Health in the Park; it was an amazing event.

"It gave our team a chance to network with services we hadn’t previously known about, which means we can now share this information with our patients in the community to benefit them directly.

“Residents who attended also shared very positive feedback, saying they thoroughly enjoyed the day and would be keen to come again.”

“I’d like to thank the Borough Based Partnership for once again putting on a brilliant day for Hounslow families.

“Having so many fun activities on offer, while also giving people access to health professionals and services, has already made Health in the Park one of the highlights of our calendar. We want to reach as many residents as possible with our health messaging and days like this are a great way to do that. I can’t wait for next year’s event and I only hope the weather is a little kinder!”

The event was delivered by the Hounslow Borough Based Partnership, a collaboration of local NHS partners and Hounslow Council, plus Lampton Leisure, and local voluntary and community partners. It was designed to bring a range of health and care professionals to one location where they could provide prevention advice and guidance to residents and highlight easy methods to support long-term health.
