Five Ways to Wellbeing Month

This year for the Five Ways to Wellbeing Month, Hounslow Council has a series of exciting events themed to each week.

Explore the themes below, learn more about what wellbeing support is available for all BBP colleagues and sign up for the online escape room and coffee chat on Monday, 3 November. Keep an eye out for more exciting opportunities as this page is updated

Connect – Monday, 3 November – Sunday, 9 November

Connect – spend time developing and nurturing relationships with family, friends, neighbours, colleagues. 

On Monday, 3 November from 10-10:30am join an online Escape Room, coffee and chat. Connect with colleagues in a fun and relaxed setting.

The Staff Champions will also be hosting a stall in the staff lounge in Hounslow House, drop in for a chat around wellbeing, or if you want to learn more about staff support available to colleagues.

The REED staff network are also hosting a Diwali celebration on Wednesday, 5 November on the Second floor of Hounslow House from 12pm-2pm. Join to share delicious food, fun activities and more with colleagues.

Keep Learning – Monday, 10 November – Sunday, 16 November

Keep Learning – Learning new skills can boost confidence and give you a sense of achievement

On Thursday, 13 November from 12pm-1pm join ‘Understanding Behaviour: drivers and change’ lunch and learn via Microsoft Teams

Colleagues can also visit the Wellbeing and Recovery College to further your knowledge of wellbeing and best practices.

Join digital learning sessions on Tuesday, 11 November from 12pm-1pm for ‘Things you never knew about Excel but were afraid to ask’. in person in room 3.01 in Hounslow House, or join the digital learning session online by clicking here. Or attend Bite size Digital Learning on Wednesday, 12 November from 1pm-1:30pm to learn about ‘Creating Effective Presentations in PowerPoint’

Be Active – Monday, 17 November – Sunday, 23 November

Be Active – find an activity you enjoy. Being active will improve your mental health

Throughout this week staff can have three days free access to Lampton Leisure pool and gym facilities (and sauna and spa where applicable) over the week 17-21 November. Just show your staff ID at reception.    

On Thursday, 20 November from 12:30pm-1:30pm in room 6.10 on the sixth floor of Hounslow House, join Otago strength and balance training sessions.  Otago is an evidence based programme developed in New Zealand and uses 17 specific  strength and balance exercises.

Colleagues can also download the BetterPoints app to earn as they keep fit.

Take Notice – Take some time to enjoy the present and the environment around you

We’re once again opening a photography competition for residents and staff. Winners will receive a £50 Amazon voucher – Getting out to look for things to photograph in Hounslow is a great way to see some of the interesting sights there are in our borough. It could be one of our wonderful green spaces or something of interest in a town centre, or anything in between. To enter, just email your photograph, along with your full name and a few words about why you’ve chosen your subject, to: communications@hounslow.gov.uk by the end of Sunday, 30 November. Please use the subject “Five Ways photo competition”.  

On Wednesday, 26 November 10:30am-2:30pm in Hounslow House reception the HOT Team is offering free Blood pressure checks, healthy lifestyle info and kidney checks

On Thursday, 27 November 12pm-3pm in Hounslow House reception, stop smoking support can be found from Healthy Hounslow.

Give – Monday, 1 December – Sunday, 7 December

Give – helping others/acts of kindness can improve your self-esteem and emotional health
